Vesuvio: The Legend of Love – Book your tickets for the show at Teatro Tasso in Sorrento

The Teatro Tasso in Sorrento is set to host one of the most anticipated shows of the year: “Vesuvio: The Legend of Love.” Directed by Massimiliano Gallo, this performance promises to bring the magic of Neapolitan music and dance to the stage, telling a love story deeply rooted in the age-old traditions of our land.

Love at the heart of every choice – says the Director

Massimiliano Gallo, director and co-writer of the show, declared, “Love is at the center of every choice we make.” With these words, Gallo introduces the audience to an emotional journey through the songs that have made Naples famous worldwide. “Twenty artists on stage and the songs that have made Naples immortal in the world, to tell you about our journey on this surprising path. The story of a wonderful land that still fascinates and makes you dream.”

Tradition and Innovation – a Perfect Balance

“Vesuvio: The Legend of Love” is not just a dance and music show but a true emotional journey. “We chose to create a show that could combine tradition and innovation to meet the needs of the audience,” says Gallo. This perfect balance between tradition and modernity is evident in every aspect of the show, from the choreography to the costumes, from the scenography to the music.

The Siren’s Journey: the show’s Narrating Voice

A siren will guide the audience through this journey into Neapolitan and Sorrentine music. “She has inhabited our waters since the beginning of human history and has witnessed their actions,” explains screenwriter Francesco Pinto. The siren represents the soul of our land, capable of conveying deep emotions through her singing. “The Siren doesn’t know history, machines, or progress, only the soul of those who inhabit these lands,” Pinto adds.

Choreography by Ettore Squillace: an exceptional dance troupe

Ettore Squillace, assistant director and choreographer, describes the emotion of bringing the traditions and stories of his homeland to the stage: “Having the opportunity to stage a show that tells the story of my land, with its history and traditions, is a great privilege for me.” Squillace carefully selected a dance troupe of 14 dancers, all from our city, to ensure a unique and spectacular performance.

The Songs of the Neapolitan Heart

The show will be accompanied by the most beautiful songs of the Neapolitan musical tradition, including famous pieces such as “Villanella,” “Michelemmà,” “Fenesta Vascia,” “Funiculì Funiculà,” (where Iamme Ia! took inspiration from for its name) “Torna a Surriento,” “‘O Surdato ‘Nnammurato,” “Ninì Tirabusciu,” “Reginella,” “Munasterio ‘e Santa Chiara,” “Tammurriata Nera,” “Caruso,” and a medley of 1950s hits (“Guaglione,” “Anema e Core,” “Ma Tu Vulive ‘Na Pizza,” “Where Is Zazà,” “Tu Vuò Fà L’Americano,” “Torero,” “‘A Sonnambula,” “Maruzzella,” “Lazzarella”), “Italian Mambo,” “Tu Vuò Fà L’Americano,” and “‘O Sole Mio.”
